Audrey Shaeps
founder & ceo
Audrey Shaeps is the founder and owner of The Workshop LA. She started the agency in 2015 after working for 10+ years in the fashion industry both in New York and Los Angeles. She is the girl who had a million jobs when she was first starting out- from design to sales and marketing - and understands firsthand how challenging it can be to find a career fit, especially when you’re starting out.
Audrey founded The Workshop LA to make peoples job searches easier and to help companies find exceptional talent. Audrey was born and raised in Santa Monica, CA and graduated with a Sociology degree from UC Santa Cruz. Prior to starting The Workshop LA, she worked for companies including Zac Posen, Aveda/Estee Lauder, The California Market Center and UBM Fashion/MAGIC Tradeshows. She understands the wholesale and manufacturing business better than most because she has worked inside it. In her free time, she balances family life with two toddlers and sample sale shopping, going to concerts and exploring new restaurants all over the Westside - she is a Venice lifer.
Michal Goldvaser Steele
director
Originally from Haifa, Israel, Michal graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2004. She started her career in the fashion industry working for the jewelry line Sydney Evan selling wholesale accessories to retailers and attending trade shows. After 3 years in wholesale, she earned her real estate license and began leasing fashion showrooms for The California Market Center.
During her time at the The California Market Center, she learned the in’s and out’s of the fashion industry which led her to be a successful recruiter. Michal is responsible for placing hundreds of successful candidates with dream fashion-related jobs. Her favorite thing about recruiting is getting to know her candidates and clients and learn about what is really important to them in their search.
When Michal is not finding people jobs, she enjoys attending concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, Classpass, iced coffees from King’s Road Café and generally living her best life.
Michele Boren
senior recruiter
Michele, (yes with one L) is an LA native who graduated from The University of Arizona with a degree in Communication. She started her career working in the entertainment industry working on reality TV shows. In 2014, she left Los Angeles for New York City to manage the recruiting department at Powell Communications, a public relations firm for B2B advertising agencies.
After three years of living in the big city, she started to miss the West Coast sunshine and decided to head back to LA. Michele loves recruiting at The Workshop LA because she loves being the person to change someone's life by helping them get a new job.
When Michele is not matching people up with perfect jobs, she loves spending time with her kids, playing tennis or pickleball, reading, mahjong, and listening to her favorite podcasts. You’ll also find her on the hunt for the best burgers in LA.
Alex Wilhelm
Senior Recruiter
Born in Connecticut and raised under the California sun, Alex graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a degree in Communication Studies and an early passion for people and storytelling. She began her career in entertainment publicity at the iconic firm ID-PR, where she helped shape and support the careers of both rising and established talent. After several years in Hollywood, Alex realized her favorite part of the job wasn’t the red carpets — it was the people.
That spark led her to recruiting, where for the past decade she’s built a career in connecting the most skilled and creative talent with leading fashion and lifestyle brands. She loves the art of matchmaking — pairing vision with opportunity, creativity with culture, and helping people and companies grow into the next chapter of their lives and businesses.
When she’s not deep in talent sourcing, Alex can be found somewhere outdoors — from the mountains to the beach — or chasing her two wonderful kids around a farmer’s market.
